Featured Speaker: Peter Rowe, MS
Usually sober and often engaging, Peter Rowe will discuss everything you always wanted to know about beer — including ales vs. lagers, the world’s weirdest beers, those zany Belgian brews, the tastiest Mexican lagers, the secret sauce behind San Diego’s craft beer success — but were afraid to ask. In his 36 years at the San Diego Union and Union-Tribune, Rowe was a features editor, lifestyle columnist, food critic, film reviewer, and senior enterprise reporter. Despite all this, Rowe may be best known as the Union-Tribune’s beer writer.
Peter Rowe has a BA in history and journalism from UC Berkeley and a Master’s in Journalism from Northwestern. His education continued in 1995, when he was schooled by his two more successful rivals on “Jeopardy!” A former president of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Rowe also received a Fulbright fellowship (Japan, 2003), two local Emmys, and the 2017 San Diego Press Club’s “Best in Show” for coverage of a transgender teen.
