Finding a Job in the Life Sciences Just Got Easier

By Stephanie Stevens

If you're interested in attending future workshops, please contact UC San Diego's Career Center for future dates or other career expanding opportunities.

With extensive academic capital, research organizations and an educated workforce, San Diego consistently lands in the top five cities for life sciences companies, earning it the nickname Biotech Beach. The industry is still growing at nearly double-digit rates, according to Biocom, the association representing California’s life science industry, with more than three times the national average concentration of biochemists and biophysicists in the San Diego area.

So how do you make your resume stand out when you’re looking for a life sciences position? Make sure that you’ve got the skills and education you need to qualify for the position you’re applying to and tailor your resume to the industry.

UC San Diego’s Career Center is offering a free series of life science-focused workshops that are focused on helping UC San Diego students and alumni highlight their skills and feel competitive in this quick-moving job market. Make sure to bring a hard copy of your resume and your laptop to each event, as well as questions for panelists when applicable.

A limited number of seats are open to Extension students. To reserve a seat, email Melissa Hoon at mhoon@UCSD.EDU.
