Business Research for Innovation, Design, Growth, and Entrepreneurship (BRIDGE)

Administered by the UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies, the Research Scholars Program offers high school students exceptional access to advanced educational experiences that draw upon the intellectual resources of a globally recognized research institution.
Through a combination of interactive online discussions via Zoom, analysis of real-world venture case studies, and engagement with venture simulations developed by leading universities, this course provides high school students with a strong foundational framework for careers and advanced study in business, entrepreneurship, and management. The curriculum immerses students in critical topics such as business innovation, venture financing, and growth strategy. Simulations offer experiential insight into the operational dynamics of launching and scaling a business, highlighting challenges such as capital acquisition, organizational leadership, and value creation for founders and stakeholders. Case examples feature ventures that successfully transitioned from concept to market and secured funding from angel investors and venture capitalists.

- Economic and Financial Principles of Enterprise: Examining the economic and financial underpinnings essential to launching and sustaining a successful business.
- Strategic Development and Execution: Analyzing frameworks for formulating and implementing effective business strategies.
- Identifying and Addressing Unmet Market Needs: Investigating approaches to uncover latent customer demands and translating insights into viable offerings.
- Designing Scalable Business Models: Constructing business models that support sustainable growth, adaptability, and long-term scalability.
- Value Capture and Business Plan Synthesis: Integrating key business components into a cohesive, investor-ready business plan aimed at maximizing stakeholder value.

How to Enroll
STEP ONE: Create a student account
Take a moment to create an account in the student's name. Do not use your student's school emai. Proceed to STEP TWO if you have created an account previously.
NOTE: Parents/guardians, if you are enrolling multiple students into the program, please create separate accounts for each student, and ensure you are logged into each student's account when processing enrollment.
STEP TWO: Add course offering to shopping cart
Scroll below to the "Course Sessions" section and click "add to cart" to add course offering to your shopping cart.
STEP THREE: Select your grading option
At UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies, you have the option to choose how you want your course(s) graded. If you don’t choose a grading option, the default grading option of Pass/No Pass will be assigned.

STEP FOUR: Agree to the terms and conditions and check out

STEP FIVE: Pay
You will be directed to the checkout website, Transact. Here you will be able to choose your method of payment.
Payment plans can be requested up to two months prior to the course start date. Payment plans will be monthly payments broken down evenly up until the final month prior to the course start date. To request a payment plan, please email precollege@ucsd.edu providing the students name, PID, email address, and course name.
