Caryn Eve Murray teaches for UC San Diego Extension’s Copyediting Certificate Program
. She comes to the program with more than 40 years’ experience as a newspaper writer and editor. She has worked for the Times Herald-Record (Middletown, N.Y.), New York Newsday, and Long Island Newsday. She has been a general assignment reporter, business writer, feature writer and Sunday magazine columnist as well as an assistant editor on the night news desk. She is presently working as a copyeditor for BuzzFeed. Caryn, who holds an amateur radio operator’s license from the FCC, is also an editor and writer for Amateur Radio Newsline, a 30-plus-year-old weekly newscast serving the world’s radio amateurs. She previously taught copyediting at Montclair State University in New Jersey, where she was an adjunct professor. She is also the author of a children’s book, “Philomena’s Homecoming.” Caryn is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, with a bachelor’s degree in Arts & Humanities.
